Meet Dr. Ginn

Lisa R. Ginn, MD is one of a handful of African American board certified dermatologists and fellowship trained cosmetic laser surgeons in the country.  Dr. Ginn offers a unique perspective to the field of cosmetic dermatology as she has completed extensive work and training in medical dermatology and the cosmetic industry.  She received her M.D. from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.   Upon graduation from medical school, she was awarded a prestigious post-doctorate clinical research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health and worked within the NIH to increase the presence of women and minorities in the field of clinical research.  While performing her fellowship, she simultaneously obtained her license as a medical esthetician in order to truly learn the art of skin care.  After completing her dermatology residency, she went on to complete a two-year laser surgery and cosmetic fellowship.

Dr. Ginn is a true product and laser expert with an artistic side that makes her love of cosmetic dermatology the perfect fit.  In addition to completing her formal dermatology training, she served as a Medical Officer in the division of FDA that regulates cosmetic products.  Dr. Ginn designed her private practice in Chevy Chase, Maryland as one that would encompass all of her training in clinical medicine, research, aesthetics and product development and regulation.  Her vision was a clear one of offering innovative and clinically proven skincare and medical therapies for a host of skin concerns from adult acne to anti-aging.  Her primary expertise is in the field of cosmetic laser surgery for patients of all ethnicities and skin color who are seeking a vibrantly natural and fresh appearance.  Patients have come to view Dr. Ginn as a cosmetic doctor who will guide them through the never-ending sea of skincare products and laser treatments available, and outline for them a straightforward yet comprehensive customized regimen and plan to achieve ideal results.

Passionate about her field, Dr. Ginn is a well-respected doctor among her peers and within the cosmetic industry. She is fully credentialed in the field of dermatology and is recognized nationally as a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.  She has received the honor of being named One of Washington DC's Best Dermatologists from 2016 to present.

Dr. Ginn takes great pride and pleasure in continuing to expand her clinical, research, education and business acumen. She holds the prestigious honor of co-authoring the “Laser Treatments” chapter in Dermatology for Skin of Color.  This textbook is one of the few clinical dermatology reference textbooks dedicated to skin of color in publication and serves as a valuable medical reference for Dr. Ginn’s peers and physicians around the world.  She serves on medical expert advisory boards for L’Oreal device evaluation and skincare products programs, and was named as one of original panel members for Allure Beauty Finder.  In 2017 Dr. Ginn was selected as a Guidepoint Global Advisor and tasked with consulting with Guidepoints’ national and international clientele to provide clinical expertise on a vast array of both medical and cosmetic dermatology topics and studies.   In 2016 she was chosen as a member of the expert panel for Skincare.com, and in 2015, she was recognized for her expertise by Essence with the Best in Black Beauty Award.

A devoted student for life, Dr. Ginn applied for and received the coveted honor of being selected for the 2019 Class for Women in Technology Leadership Foundry.  The foundry is a unique program that offers intense studies in the discipline of diversity and advancing women in the corporate boardroom.  Dr. Ginn’s commitment to research and education was further rewarded when she was named one of the original Medical Review Board Members for the Hampton University Skin of Color Research Institute.
