Laser Hair Removal

Men and women seek laser hair removal services to have unwanted hair removed. Hair removal is commonly done on face, neck, scalp, underarms, chest, arms, abdomen, bikini and legs. During laser hair removal treatment, a laser beam bypasses the outer layer of skin to reach individual hair follicles. The laser works by damaging the hair follicle, which reduces future hair growth.  When performed by a trained professional, the laser targets only the hair follicle and in no way damages the skin.  In fact, skin in the treated area will often look smoother and healthier as the inflammation from the hair follicle is decreased with each laser hair removal treatment.

When it was first invented, laser hair removal was limited to the treatment of individuals who had light skin and dark hair. This is no longer the case, but you need to do your homework to make sure that the physician who treats you or supervises your treatment has the right laser equipment, experience and expertise in treating your hair and skin color.  Dr. Ginn has treated thousands of men and women of all skin tones with excellent results.  Although each patient is unique, you should expect to undergo monthly laser sessions for a total of 6-8 treatments to receive optimal results.  While laser hair removal generally does an excellent job of effectively reducing the volume and rate of hair growth, it does not guarantee permanent hair removal.   Once the hair is sufficiently diminished, you should anticipate needing touch up sessions in the future to maintain the results.  We will be happy to discuss the specifics of what is needed for you during your initial consultation visit.

Laser hair removal is also very effective at eliminating ingrown hairs and the resulting bumps and scarring.
